Why do we have to be patient? I

On a sunny day, a little girl accompanied her father to the supermarket to buy groceries. A trip to the supermarket was always a moment of excitement, and as soon as she had learned that she would be going with her father, she quickly put on her white sports shoes and off they went. As they started to move through the aisles in the supermarket, the little girl kindly asked, "Daddy, can I pick some biscuits for my baby brother?"

 

The father burst out laughing as he looked at her. "Your baby brother is only 5 months old. He can't eat biscuits yet; right now, he only takes milk from Mummy." The little girl thought for a moment and then asked, "Can I pick some biscuits for you and Mummy?" The question took the father into another burst of laughter.

 

"Alright, my little girl," he said. "You can pick some biscuits for yourself, but put them in the basket. You can only have them after we pay. You have to be patient." "Thank you, Daddy! Thank you, Daddy!" she uttered as she jumped in excitement.

 

After they had picked up everything they needed, they joined the line to pay for their groceries. On that particular day, the supermarket was quite busy, so there were many people in the line. After waiting a couple of minutes, the little girl went ahead and asked, "Daddy, why do we have to be patient?"

 

With a gentle smile, the father responded to his little daughter. "Well, sometimes things do not go as we have planned them. Like today, this line is longer than we thought." "Oh yes, we have been here for ages!" she said, visibly irritated.

 

"So, patience helps us to stay happy in the moments like these when things don’t do as we have planned and seem to take more time than we thought they would," the father continued. The little girl nodded reluctantly.
