Martha, a six-year-old girl, was spending the week with her mother's best friend, Aunt Aisha, because her parents had traveled for work.
During her stay, Martha noticed that her aunt was not having lunch with her as expected. She thought to herself that perhaps Aunt Aisha had already eaten before she was brought home from school.
This continued until the third day, when Martha finally decided to ask, "Aunt Aisha, are you okay? You haven't been having lunch with me."
"Yes, my dear, I am okay," Aunt Aisha replied. "I am not eating with you because I am observing Ramadan."
"Ramadan! What is that?" Martha asked.
"Ramadan is a period of fasting for Muslims. Christians also have a fasting period, and it is called Lent," Aunt Aisha responded with a smile.
"Oh, I get it now," Martha said, nodding her head.
"So, can I also fast?" Martha asked.
"No, my dear, you are still very young," said Aunt Aisha.
"Okay, Auntie. Thank you for helping me understand," Martha replied, very happy with Aunt Aisha's explanation.
The End.
