On Monday morning, a group of students visited the zoo. They were all full of excitement to make this trip to see the animals.
As they stopped in front of the crocodile enclosure, a lively debate started.
"That's a crocodile!" some students exclaimed.
"No, it's an alligator!" Others insisted and the debate showed no signs of dying down.
After a few minutes, their teacher stepped in to restore order.
"Okay, little ones," she said, calming them down. "It's great that you're familiar with both crocodiles and alligators!"
At this point, the students immediately resumed their debate, with some shouting "Crocodile!" and others countering with "Alligator!"
The teacher gently hushed them again.
"Let's take a closer look," she said. "This animal is……..a crocodile."
The students who had been advocating for "crocodile" jumped up and down in celebration.
The teacher smiled and acknowledged their excitement. "I can see you're happy because you were correct," she said. "Now, let's learn more about the differences between crocodiles and alligators."
The students settled down, eager to learn.
The teacher began, "Firstly, alligators are not found in Africa, where we live. They live in North America, South America, and Asia."
The students listened intently.
"Secondly," the teacher continued, "crocodiles have a pointed nose, almost shaped like the letter 'V', whereas alligators have a more round nose, almost shaped like the letter 'U'."
The students nodded as they learnt.
"Now, look closely at the animal here. Does its nose resemble the letter V?" she asked.
The students leaned in, taking a closer look. "Yes, it does!" they said together, their little fingers tracing the V-shape of the crocodile's nose.
The End!
