"I have a very important question to ask you, princess," her father said one day. "Do you know the most important prayer you'll ever make?"
The little girl's eyes grew wide with wonder as she pondered the question, her small face scrunched up in thoughtful concentration. “Is it a prayer for a new pink bicycle with two seats?" she asked.
Her father chuckled. "That's a great prayer, but not the most important one."
The little girl scratched her head in wonder attempting to find the answer to this rather puzzling question. "Is it a prayer for a new scooter?" she asked again.
Her father laughed. "Another good one, but still not the most important."
The little girl looked puzzled. "So, what is the most important prayer?"
Her father smiled. "The most important prayer is the one that makes you a part of God's family forever and ever."
The little girl was quite puzzled as she went on to speak. "But I'm already part of this family with you and Mommy."
Her father explained, "Yes, you're part of our family, but we all need to be part of God's family too. This is the best family you can be a part of! Your mom and I have made this prayer. Would you like to make it with me too?"
The little girl nodded eagerly. "Yes, Daddy, I want to be part of God's family!"
Together, they prayed: "Dear God, thank you for the gift of Jesus. Forgive me when I do wrong. Come live in my heart, so I can be part of God's family. In Jesus' name, amen."
