After Daddy left the house, waiting for him to come back felt like ages! He had gone by public transport, and the exciting part was, he was going to return in a brand-new car!
Then, finally! They heard the sound of a car at the gate. Vroom! Vroom!
“He’s here! He’s here!” the little girls all bounced up and down, their eyes shining like fireflies.
This was like a dream come true, the answer to prayers they had made for almost two whole years. The car they had been hoping for had finally arrived!
As Mummy opened the gate, the shiny car rolled in slowly.
Daddy was waving from behind the steering wheel, and the little girls were jumping up and down on the verandah, giggling and pointing at the new car.
It was shiny and black, like a dark night sky with stars, and big enough for everyone to fit inside comfortably.
“Wow!” said Mala, the eldest girl. Her eyes were wide.
As the car stopped and Daddy got out, she said, “Daddy, the car is so beautiful!”
They all rushed to give Daddy the biggest, warmest hugs. You could see the happy smiles all over their faces! Now that they had a car, they wouldn’t always need to take a special taxi whenever they wanted to go somewhere.
“Daddy, can we go for a ride now?” asked Anza, the second born girl, with a smile as bright as the Ugandan sun.
“Of course, my sweetie!” Daddy said, giving her a gentle squeeze. “We are all going to go for a ride this afternoon!”
Right then and there, they all walked around the new car, touching it and looking at every part.
“Daddy, what is this picture here?” Mala asked, pointing to the front of the car. “And what do these letters, B. M. W., mean?”
“Ah, this picture is called a logo,” Daddy explained. “It’s like a special drawing that tells you who made the car. And BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works.”
The little girls looked at Daddy, trying to say the big words.
“Bava…?” they all tried.
“Bavarian Motor Works,” Daddy said slowly and clearly.
“Bavaria is a place in a country called Germany, where these cars are made. Motor means cars, like our new one, and Works means a place where people work to make things.”
The little girls nodded their heads, taking in every word.
“It’s always fun learning new things with you, Daddy!” Mummy said, smiling.
That afternoon was wonderful! They all got into their shiny new car and went for a drive around the city, singing songs and pointing at all the amazing sights.
Their hearts were full of joy and thankfulness for their beautiful new car, and for being together as a family. It was the perfect start to many happy adventures!
The End.
