A sharp, ripping "RRRIP" sound filled the room. A little girl had accidentally torn off the leg of her big sister's favorite yellow doll while playing with it.
The big sister shouted, visibly furious, "Look at what you've done!"
The little sister tearfully replied, "I'm sorry! It was an accident! I didn't mean to do it!"
The big sister ran out of the room to report the incident to their mother. Their mother consoled the big sister with a hug, understanding how much she loved her yellow doll.
Together, they returned to the room, where the little sister was still crying, holding the broken doll. After they all calmed down, their mother encouraged the big sister to forgive her little sister, reminding her that the doll had been broken accidentally.
"Can I tell you a story about forgiveness?" their mother asked. The two sisters reluctantly nodded.
Their mother began, "Once, a man borrowed a lot of money from a king but failed to repay it on time. The king had the option to put him and his family in prison."
The sisters' concerned faces showed they were invested in the story.
Their mother continued, "The man begged the king for patience. Can you guess what the king did?"
"What?" the sisters asked in unison.
"The king forgave him and let him go!" their mother said. The sisters' faces lit up with relief.
"The story doesn't end there though. As the man left, he met someone who owed him some little money. Do you think he forgave him?" the mother continued.
The sisters confidently replied, "He forgave him!"
"Unfortunately, that not what happened. The man was tough on his friend and sent him to prison!" their mother said.
The big sister exclaimed, "That's not fair! He had just been forgiven by the king!"
Their mother concluded, "Exactly! The king was also disappointed when he heard about this and sent the man to prison for not forgiving others like he had been forgiven. So, we learn that it's essential to always forgive one another."
The two sisters hugged each other, grasping the importance of forgiveness
