"I don't like this food, Mummy!" a little girl exclaimed, pushing her plate away.

Her mother had just served her katogo, a traditional Ugandan dish made with boiled cassava and beans sauce.

The mother, exhausted from a long day of household chores, remained silent for a moment. She put the food on the table and walked back to the kitchen, her disappointment clearly seen by her facial expression.

The little girl noticed her mother's reaction and decided to eat her food in silence. When her mother returned, she said, "It's not nice to say you don't like something I've made for you."

The little girl shook her head in agreement.

"Can you cook food for yourself?" her mother asked.

"No, Mummy," she replied.

"Exactly," her mother said. "You need me to cook for you. It hurts my feelings when you say you don't like my cooking after I've taken the time to prepare a meal for you."

The little girl looked down, remorseful. "I'm sorry, Mummy."

Her mother asked, "How would you feel if you came to me with a story to tell and I told you I didn't want to listen?"

The little girl thought for a moment before responding, "I wouldn't feel good, Mummy."

From that day on, the little girl always tried to be thankful for the food her mother prepared for her.
