As they said their goodbyes, Grandma quickly ran to the kitchen and packed some biscuits into a container for them to take along.
Her granddaughter's face lit up with joy when she received the container, as these biscuits were her absolute favorite!
"What do you say to Grandma?" her father prompted.
"Thank you, Grandma!" she exclaimed, giving her grandma a big hug.
"Oh, you're welcome, my dear," Grandma replied warmly, smiling at her excited granddaughter.
As they got into the car to start their journey back, the little girl asked her father, "Daddy, why do we have to say thank you?"
"Good question, princess," he replied, looking at her through the rearview mirror. "When we say thank you, we show the other person how happy they've made us with what they've done for us."
The little girl nodded thoughtfully, taking in her father's words. "So, it's like saying 'You've made me very happy'?" she asked.
Her father smiled. "Exactly, princess. And saying thank you also encourages someone to keep doing good things for us."
The little girl nodded again, feeling a sense of understanding over her.
"Thank you, Daddy!" she exclaimed, as they drove home.
Her father chuckled and reached back to pat her hand. "You're welcome, princess."
