Bad Mosquitoes

The mosquito buzzed around the sitting room with a high-pitched sound.

"Zzzzzzz... zzz... zzz..."

Little Josh, sitting with his mother, spotted the tiny insect and pointed it out.

“Mosquito! Mosquito!” Josh shouted while pointing at it.

His mother had warned him that mosquitoes were bad insects, capable of spreading malaria through their bites. Even when they didn't carry the disease, their bites could still cause itchy, uncomfortable bumps.

"Good job, Josh!" his mother said, quickly hitting the mosquito with her hands in one go.

She then plugged in the electronic mosquito repellent to keep more mosquitoes away. A little later, Josh asked his mother a question.

"Mummy, why do mosquitoes come out only at night?" he asked.

His mother replied, "Mosquitoes feed on blood by biting humans, and they come out at night when we're tired and sleepy, making it easier for them to sneak up on us and bite us."

As Josh listened, he scanned the room, his eyes darting from corner to corner, searching for any sign of the bad mosquitoes. After a moment, he asked another question.

"But Mummy, if mosquitoes bring us diseases, why did God make them?"

Her mother thought for a moment before responding.

"That's a very good question, Josh. Let me answer it this way: It’s true, God made mosquitoes, but He also made us smart enough to know how to keep them away and stay safe."

Little Josh nodded his head slowly, but his expression showed he was still thinking. He looked up at his mother with a curious gaze, as if asking for more clarification.

"Take this for example," Mummy continued. "God created nighttime, right?"

"Right!" Little Josh replied.

"But do we stay outside in the night where it's cold and dark?" Mummy asked.

"No, we come inside the house and sleep safely in our beds," Josh said.

"Exactly," Mummy continued. "So, just like God made us smart enough to stay safe at night, He also made us wise enough to protect ourselves from mosquito bites. We do this by using repellent and sleeping under mosquito nets so that we don’t get any bites as we sleep."

Little Josh nodded his head in agreement and he became even more serious about looking out for the bad mosquitoes.
