"Follow the leader!"
"Follow the leader!"
"Follow the leader!"
The little children chanted loudly as they played the classic game on a bright Sunday afternoon. In a line, they mimicked the actions of the person at the front, carefully watching their every move to ensure that everyone did exactly as the leader.
After an afternoon of fun games with friends, Jozen was ready to head home. He had even had two turns as the leader during this particular game.
As they drove home, Jozen's father asked, "So, how did it go?"
Jozen's face lit up. "It was wonderful Dad! I really enjoyed playing follow the leader!" He responded. "On my turn to be the leader, I made people do frog jumps!’ he said as he burst deep in laughter.
His father smiled. "I can see you had a great time."
Jozen grinned. "Yes, I did. Thanks for bringing me to the playground, Dad."
His father's expression turned thoughtful. "You know, Jozen, I play follow the leader every day too."
Jozen's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? I've never seen you play!"
His father chuckled. "Well, my leader is someone special. Every day, I try to do what He wants me to do. Sometimes it's hard, like when you made your friends do frog jumps!" They both laughed.
Jozen's curiosity was piqued. "Who is your leader, Dad?"
His father's eyes shone with gentle conviction. "God is my leader, Jozen. That's why we pray and read the Bible as often as we can. I want to make God happy by following Him every day."
Jozen's face lit up with excitement. "Can I follow God too?"
His father smiled. "Absolutely, son! Here's how you can start: every day, take a moment to pray and say, 'Dear God, teach me how to follow you. In the name of Jesus, amen."
