A little 5-year-old girl loved to draw. One Sunday afternoon, she looked around the sitting room, looking for something to draw. Her eyes landed on the colorful calendar hanging on the wall.
"That's it!" she thought.
She carefully drew the March calendar, making sure to color each day just right. When she finished, she proudly carried her drawing to her father.
"Daddy, look! I drew the calendar!" she exclaimed.
Her father beamed with pride. "Wonderful, my little princess! It looks fantastic!" As they admired the drawing, the little girl pointed to the 8th of March, marked in red.
"Daddy, what's happening on the 8th? It's red!" she asked. She knew red marks on the calendar meant something special, except for Sundays.
"That's Women's Day," her father explained.
"What happens on Women's Day?" the little girl asked.
"A long time ago, people forgot that God made women just as capable and wonderful as men. But God always knew women had special talents and gifts," her father began to explain.
He smiled. "Even in the Bible, there were amazing women who did great things for God, like Deborah, who was a brave judge and led God's people!"
The little girl's eyes widened. "Wow, a judge?"
Her father nodded. "Yes! So, on Women's Day, we celebrate all the women making a difference in the world in so many ways using their special talents and gifts God has given them."
The little girl's face lit up. "Oh, like Mummy! She's the best mummy in the world!"
Her father smiled. "Yes she is! And I know that by the help of God, you are growing up to be a great woman as well who will use your gifts to make the world a better place."
The little girl looked up at her father, and he asked her to hold hands for a prayer.
"Dear God, thank you for all the amazing women you have created. Thank you for their strength, kindness, and love. Bless them and help them to continue using their gifts to make the world a better place. In Jesus' name, Amen."
The little girl smiled, knowing Women's Day was a special day to celebrate all the wonderful women God had made – and that she was one of them!
The End!
